Project description

The Group Chief Executive required assurance from all Group companies that:

  • business processes (claims, underwriting etc) and IT infrastructure and applications were Year 2000 compliant
  • comprehensive business continuity plans were in place.

ItemPlus was engaged to support the Group Year 2000 Programme.

The £100m programme covered 55 countries and a scope ranging from small PC-based offices to large enterprises with complex IT infrastructure. ItemPlus supported both the creation and execution (3 years) of the programme.

Creation: ItemPlus developed:

  • an assurance method scalable to all sizes of business
  • cost model to assign and verify programme budgets
  • milestone-based management reporting processes.

Execution: ItemPlus managed:

  • monthly reporting from all countries
  • site audits round the world
  • exception management processes
  • enhancement of best practice guides tracking against budgets.

ItemPlus helped to set up UK “rollover” teams to ensure continuity at the Millennium. ItemPlus also led the UK review team which monitored progress of the Group’s UK operations towards and through the Millennium.
