Project description

The Bank was running a major “end to end” re-engineering programme for its cheque clearing operation.

The scale and cost of the change demanded the highest level of confidence that benefits would be achieved. The Bank’s project management methodology contained no suitable approach.

ItemPlus worked with senior management to design, develop and implement an effective benefits management process. Key objectives were:

  • design - build a new way of assessing and managing benefits
  • roles/function - establish new roles of benefits manager and benefits analyst
  • project/business agreement - ensure that agreement on realisable benefits was achieved with the accountable business managers, and that benefits delivery was built into the project management approach
  • benefits review - build a review capability which could prove that benefits had really been delivered.
