Year 2000 was a major issue for the UK Government.
The Government enlisted the help of professional bodies and advisors to ensure that the country was well prepared for the Millennium.
An ItemPlus consultant, Roger Baker, was co-opted by the Millennium Enquiry. The panel developed a methodology, and a number of publications, to guide organisations through their Year 2000 preparations.
Roger was then asked to become an advisor to the House of Commons Select Committee on Science and Technology’s Millennium Enquiry in its investigations into the Millennium problem in all sectors of industry and government, both the UK and international.
Outcome
Year 2000 arrived without incident. The Select committee congratulated the team on its plan.
