Project description

The Bank of England is leading the UK preparation for European Economic and Monetary Union. It recognises that the impact on IT systems will be substantial.

An Chaucer consultant, Roger Baker, was invited to join the Bank of England and the British Computer Society in developing their IT best practice advice to UK business and government.

Chaucer used its own development method which has been incorporated in the Bank of England/British Computer Society recommended approach to EMU programme definition and development (available from the BCS and Chaucer on request).

Roger is co-author of the professional development guide for EMU, focusing on financial services and the insurance sector as the initial model.

Outcome

The best practice guide has been used in Europe in insurance operations preparing for EMU. Chaucer was retained by a major international insurance company with 19 European operations to help them prepare for the euro.
