Project description

The IT Systems Delivery function is responsible for IT operations and technical support for various mainframe, server and desktop environments.

Systems Delivery costs had been rising over a number of years and senior management wanted to be sure that the company was getting the best value from its investment as well as explore opportunities for savings.

A joint team including ItemPlus was asked to identify effectiveness and cost saving opportunities with the Systems Delivery team.  ItemPlus provided the IT management and technical expertise. ItemPlus therefore led the investigations into:

  • the appropriateness of the IT infrastructure
  • IT management structures
  • skills and resourcing
  • systems management processes

Outcome

The team identified and categorised a number of short and longer term cost saving and performance improvement opportunities.  These have been implemented.
