Royal & SunAlliance’s Worldwide Group Office reviewed a range of technologies, as input to its global technology design, including:
- Global Enterprise Applications & associated IT Infrastructure
- Global Desktop Application Design
- Thin Client Technology
ItemPlus was asked to lead these three industry-wide studies to assess the component technologies’ in readiness for global use, and the extent of adoption, particularly in financial services organisations.
Claims of leading technology suppliers were investigated and reference organisations followed up.
The views of industry watchers including Gartner, and Ovum were used to support and confirm findings, and indicate likely future trends.
The review criteria included technical capability & limitations, scale, cost, usability & staffing implications.
Experiences of other users of the technologies were significant inputs to the study.
Outcome
The findings and recommendations were direct inputs to the development of the new global IT strategy.
