Global Data Protection & Insurance Regulatory Review
- Client
- Royal & SunAlliance (R&SA)
- Sector
- Financial services
Project description
Royal & SunAlliance aims to move data and processing away from individual countries and develop regional datacentres for the Group’s IT Operations. Feasibility is governed by Data Protection and Insurance regulations.
ItemPlus identified the relevant regulations in each of 30+ countries, and then produced an analysis showing:
- The major requirements of each regulator
- The relative scope and strength of different regimes
- Links to each Data Protection Registrar and Insurance Regulator and their detailed regulations
- Suggested compliance strategies. Issues were clarified directly with many regulators.
The Group’s internal and external legal advisers approved the conclusions.
Outcome
The analysis was instrumental in confirming that the locations preferred for the datacentres complied with worldwide best-practice regulations.
The findings were then given to the regional development teams as input to the definition and implementation phases of the Regional Datacentre programmes.
A similar assignment subsequently covered the Labour Regulations and HR aspects of this programme.
