Project description

The Bank took the opportunity to re-engineer its cheque clearing operations “end to end” - including branches and centres.

ItemPlus supported the development of a new cheque processing strategy, implementation plan and programme organisation.

ItemPlus then supported the programme over two years, in particular:

  • programme management - hands-on management of elements of the multi project programme, delivering to multiple stakeholders, at varying stages from design to implementation and with varying levels of technology and supplier content
  • benefits management - developing workable approaches to cross functional benefits management in large scale and multi-location environments, establishing the benefits management team with supporting processes and tools
  • operations consolidation - leading a major study to determine the optimum processing configuration for the Bank’s UK clearing operation
  • business design - leading the end-to-end design for cheque servicing in an environment where cheques are not returned to the account holding branch.

Outcome

Despite significant IT supplier issues, the programme delivered major elements of its business case, over-performing against original targets.
