Benefits Management - Design & Implementation

Client
Leading UK Water Utility
Sector
Financial Services

Project description

A leading UK utility company was launching a large multi-phase change programme within its Customer Relations function. Although highly skilled in the development and delivery of engineering infrastructures, the company had relatively little experience of business change programmes involving IT expenditure. A number of business project disciplines had been put in place but no comprehensive approach to the management of business benefits had been implemented.

Chaucer was asked to:

  • Develop an approach to Benefits Management
  • Complete the initial training of all programme staff
  • Review all current projects (five) from a benefits realisation perspective and recommend project changes as appropriate
  • Develop the overall Programme Business Case.

Outcome

An integrated approach to Benefits Management was implemented throughout the change programme. All staff (30+) received training. Individual project teams received hands on support to develop benefits plans for their projects.

The benefits review resulted in the realignment of a number of projects to ensure greater value was delivered.

Benefits management and realisation is now a cornerstone of the Change Programme.
